The sixth edition of Unite for Nature magazine brings readers inspiring updates from the world of conservation, highlighting major global initiatives and success stories. This issue previews the upcoming IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025, showcasing themes, motions, and exhibitions that will shape global sustainability action. We invite you to explore the magazine and be inspired to join the movement for a healthier planet.

Shaping global priorities for nature, together

At the IUCN World Conservation Congress, our powerful Union comes together to chart our common direction and strategic vision for the future. As a Union, we bring together governments, Indigenous peoples, civil society and experts, united as one voice under a shared purpose: a just world that values and conserves nature. Our Congress is where that unified diversity shines - through democratic processes, open dialogue and bold ideas that guide our collective path forward.

In every comer of the world, we see people stepping up to protect nature, restore ecosystems and champion solutions that benefit both people and planet This Congress is a celebration of those efforts - a space to share knowledge, scale impact and build the partnerships needed to accelerate action. It is a place not only for decisions, but for energy, innovation and meaningful collaboration.

This Congress features critical motions on glaciers, wild animals as climate allies, sustainable food systems - and much more. Outcomes of these discussions will shape our advocacy at UN Climate Change conference in Belem and reinforce global momentum

At the heart of it all is our mission: to influence, encourage and assist societies to conserve the integrity and diversity of nature, and ensure that any use of natural resources is equitable and ecologically sustainable. That mission has never been more energising, more unifying or more essential. We are surrounded by inspiring examples of what's possible when knowledge meets action - when science, policy and community work hand in hand.

This edition of the magazine captures some examples of those moments - stories of progress, leadership and connection across our global network They remind us that the strength of IUCN lies in its people, its values and its unwavering belief in a better future for nature and humanity.

As we come together in Abu Dhabi, let us celebrate the power of unity, the richness of our collective expertise, and the difference we are making together. This is more than a Congress - it is a powerful expression of hope, ambition and shared commitment to a thriving, nature-positive world.
